Observing UT1-UTC with VGOS

چکیده
We present first results of UT1-UTC determinations using the VLBI Global Observing System (VGOS). During December 2019 through February 2020 a series 1~hour long observing sessions were performed VGOS stations at Ishioka in Japan and Onsala twin telescopes Sweden. The data this VGOS-B correlated, post-correlation processed, analysed Space Observatory. derived compared to corresponding from standard legacy S/X Intensive (INT1/INT2), as well final values International Earth Rotation Reference Frame Service (IERS), provided IERS Bulletin~B. achieve 3-4 times lower formal uncertainties for than INT series. Furthermore, root mean square (RMS) agreement with respect Bulletin~B is 30-40 % better INT1/INT2 results.

The De nition of UTC
The current de nition of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is related to the unpredictable, variable rotation rate of the Earth. This is accomplished by irregular insertions of leap seconds, creating unpredictable discontinuities in UTC. With the increasing importance of a continuous, uniform time scale for users, it is appropriate to re-examine the current de nition of this time scale. There ar...
متن کاملConnected Vehicles- Infrastructure UTC
The goal of the Infrastructure Safety Assessment in a Connected Vehicle Environment project was to develop a method to identify infrastructure safety “hot spots” using connected vehicle data. The premise was to show that using connected vehicle basic safety messages to detect hot spots could allow for a quicker detection than traditional methods using police-reported crashes. This is because th...
متن کاملReplicating UTC(NIST) at Remote Sites
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is deploying disciplined oscillators that are referenced to the UTC(NIST) time scale through common-view observations of Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. We present measurement results from four NIST disciplined oscillators (NISTDOs), three located in the United States, and one located in Concepción, Chile. These devices repli...
